Intel Pro Wireless 2200 BG & Acquiring IP Address
I just got an inspiron 6000. I had a wireless network on my desktop. My inspiron detected the wireless entwork, I entered in the password, and nothing. It seems to be stuck at aquiring an IP address. how do I solve that problem?
I've tried turning off the power for the modem, router, and computer and turning them back on after 3 minutes. Still didn't work.
I installed the new driver. Still did't work.
I tried the WPA-PSK w/ TKI and AES. Still didn't work.
I tried talking to someone from Dell but they say that it's not their problem. I just got this laptop and hadn't done anything to it!

The drivers are buggy, but are the best available now.
2) Are you using Intel's utility software or Windows Wireless Zero Configuration?
I believe you would be better off using Windows WZC.
3) If you continue to have problems connecting, try reloading the drivers.
(In the device manager, delete the device. Then re-install it with the current drivers.)
4) Make sure you are using the same encryption on the router and the device and that the key or password is the same.
5) Try letting Windows repair the connection.

Hi
I had a similar prob w/my Insp 9300. It would get an IP address, but would disconnect after a while and then would have to reboot router to get fresh IP.
Get latest drivers from Intel's site 9.0.2.25
I'm using Intels Connection manager to manage the 2915 internal nic.
How old is ur router, I had to get a new router. My old SMC 7004AWBR (802.11b) was no good, got a new NetGear WGT624 (802.11g/b).
Turn OFF Encryption for a while so that u eliminate that as a potential variable.
Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem with an Inspiron 600m in that when the router was configured with WPA-PSK and either TKIP or AES encryption, the laptop would connect to the wireless but not get an IP address.
Loading the latest 2200BG drivers from Dell seems to have fixed that issue.
