intel pro wireless 2200 bg

Question

i can connect to a network, but cannot access the intenet on my 600m. i can use my ethernetcard to connect, but i was hoping my wireless would work. i botught this laptp off ebay and the wireless worked for a week or two, but when i travelled to chicago last week the wireless did not work anymore. help me please. since i bought this off ebay dell will not help me since the service code is registered to a guy in canada. help me please

Have you tried using the Fn F2 key combination, which toggles the wireless radio on and off? To help troubleshoot this problem further, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

The ipconfig output shows that you are connected to the router through ethernet.  I need the output when you are not connected by ethernet and are trying to connect by wireless. Steve

The ipconfig output for the wireless looks like it should be working.   When you connect by ethernet, are you connecting directly to the cable modem or to one of the ethernet ports on the router?  If you are changing the device connected directly to the modem, are you doing a complete reset of the network whenever you make the change?  If not, you must do so, since cable modems remember the last device connected and will not allow a connection through another device until the network is reset.   To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem (either the router or the computer), then turn on any other computers that will connect through the router.   Steve

when i am connected though the ethernet i am going off one router in my hosue thorugh my line. i then have a wireless router connected onto the router. the cable modem guys set it up for me, but they will charge me 45 an hour to find out what is wrong if i call them. it worked until i went through security at the airport, then i couldn't connect to internet explorer.

There are several things about the two ipconfig outputs that I don't understand. One shows that you have three network adapters, the other shows only two. One shows that your gateway is 192.168.1.1 and the other shows the gateway address as 192.168.0.1. It is as if you are running two different dchcp servers on the network. Your setup is very complicated. Is the wireless router set up as a router or as an access point. If it is set up as a router and your other router is set up as a router also, then it means you have two dhcp servers on the network and thus two different networks. Is there anyway you can eliminate the wired router from the setup and just use the wireless router?

I doubt that airport security had anything to do with this. Your wireless card is connecting to the wireless router and thus appears to be working as it should. It is just not connecting to the internet through that router. Complicated network setups like this are awfully difficult to troubleshoot over the interenet.

one is just an access point from my fathers office and the other is a router upstairs int he other office. i reinstalled all my drivers fromt he dell website and now it works great. i am going to just purchase a wirless router from netgear or d-link and have that run this whole house. thansk again for all the help. i iwll be coming back if anything else occurs. thansk again iam new to wireless..lol
