Intel Prowireless 3945 a/b/g

I recently purchased an e1405 with the a Intel Prowireless 3945 abg card. Shortly after, I started to experience problems with the wireless dropping out and disabling itself. I downloaded the newest drivers, and the problem still exists. I also went into the card properties and unchecked the box that let Windows disable the card to save power thinking that might be the problem. I also disabled the wireless hotkey in the BIOS. Can anyone help me out here?

I have the EXACT same problem, my card drops in and out, whenever it feels like it.

I have re-installed windows, updated drivers, moved phones and routers, tried connecting at various friends houses, but the card still does not stay connected!


EDIT: I am pretty computer savvy, but this one has me stumped. I tweaked the wireless settings to try to help it, but it didn't help at all. I have used windows and intel pro set, each one constantly drops the connection

Yeah I hear ya man. I am going for a in programming with a minor in networking, and this problem has me stumped! It is getting really annoying, as I use the laptop for everything at school.

Can you tell me when you purchased this system? In your original post it only says recently.

The order date was October 11. Not sure if this matters, but the system was refurbished.

I updated my BIOS to version A09 (I think) and everything seems to be working fine now :)

having the same problem...dell e1505...pro wireless 3945abg, mine simply stops working...the radio doesnt disable and the light doesnt go off, i just lose connectivity and the only way to get it back is restart....VERY frustrating....did anyone figure out a solution? HELP!!!!

Nope, nothing yet. Somebody from Dell wanted to know when I purchased the system, but never responded when I answered her question. I suppose they are stumped as well.

Sorry for not responding about the date. For earlier systems there was a driver update that corrected a connectivity issue. Yours was not one of those. But if you are continuing to have problems pPlease be sure you have the most up-to-date driver (if I remember right you do but double check). To make sure it is installed correctly please remove the driver from ADD/REMOVE programs and then reinstall the updated driver. Here is the link.

I will reinstall the drivers again, and let you know how it goes. DELL - Gina, is it possible that Dell could send me a new WLAN card? I can not keep on playing these games with the laptop. Without the internet, the laptop is battery operated typewriter. However, I can not afford to send the entire laptop in for service because I use it every day for school. All of my programming projects are on there, and I need them daily.

Dell-GINA,
 
I have installed this latest driver, but I am still having the same problem. The only way to get it working again is to restart everytime.
 
I am in the same situation as bigdan034. This is really frustrating. I cant send in my laptop. I am a student as well.

sorry if this has been asked but what kind of router are you using?  my intel cards seem to do the absolute worst with dlink (atheros) but that's just from my own experiance.
 
any USB wireless option would be a painless replacement

Although I maintain my connection, I still am unable to play games on the wireless card. This is getting very annoying.

As the others are asking, is it possible to get a new WLAN card? Preferably a Dell one, even though it is a "lower grade" than mine
