Intel Wireless and external wireless cards stop working when laptop plugged into docking station.

We have an Inspiron 600M that recently was upgraded to Service Pack 2.
The owner of the laptop stated that before the upgrade, the wireless would work when the laptop was connected to the docking station and there was no ethernet cable connected to the docking station RJ-45 port. After the upgrade, when plugged into the docking station, neither the embedded intel wireless nor the 3rd part wireless card work. Once the laptop is undocked, wirless works just fine. I've seen references to Docking station drivers built into the OS. Can anyone shed some light on this ?
