Intel Wireless-N 7260, Disconnecting Bluetooth Devices on Windows 8.1

I have an Inspiron 17, 7737 with Windows 8.1 x64 installed.  My Intel Wireless-N 7260 absolutely will not keep Bluetooth devices connected.  I can pair them just fine, but then 3-7 seconds after they connect, they disconnect without warning.  At no point are the devices useable in any way.

I've seen many other online forum posts about this exact same issue (they all seem to blame Intel for their really bad wireless drivers), and I have tried everything that they recommended - uninstalling and re-installing drivers, checking the Bluetooth services, making sure all Windows updates are installed, and disabling Power Management.  I also tried using the latest drivers from Dell (17.1.1406.472), and I've tried the latest drivers directly from Intel (17.1.1411.504).  Nothing fixes the problem.  The Bluetooth diagnostics from Dell lack the ability to determine the issue, since all it appears to care about is the device discoverability.

I'm at a complete loss at this point, and infinitely frustrated at the lack of the ability to use any Bluetooth device on my laptop.  FWIW, WiFi works just fine.  It's only the Bluetooth that's messed up.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I sort of had the same issue only with the driver you mentioned. I havent had this issue ever. i tried the following : 17.16.0.4 proset wireless software and driver so far so good. This was found by the intel automated driver update. The funny thing id that the blue tooth driver failed installation till i remove the already installed one. Good luck

I also have the exact problem with the Inspiron 17 7737 and have tried everything described in the post above. Even going as far as rolling back to W8.1 and then re-installing W10. After the second W10 installation the Bluetooth was working fine however after the first reboot there is no sign of my system having Bluetooth capability apart from via USB. My system is also not recognising earphones and continues to play through the on board speakers.

Both the Dell and Intel site drivers have been utterly useless.

Any suggestions?

I might have a fix for that.

Go into Windows Devices Manager, find everything related to the WIFI-Bluetooth>

(Network adapter, Bluetooth, Sound Controlers, HID Devices, Mouse and Pointing Devices)

Go thru all the option that have a energy setting. Unchek all and every option that says that the computer can turnoff the device for power saving.

That solved my Bluetooth and Wifi connection problems so far.

Hope it work for you to.
