Hi - Just to say I am having the same problem with my new Dell Inspiron 17 laptop which has intermittent connection to a Thomson router which was sent by my new Internet Provider, Plusnet. I cannot seem to find my way round any of the suggested actions to solve this. I too would appreciate any help out there. I have tried my Internet Provider but am told it is a problem with the compatibility of the laptop and the power saving device. Unfortunately I am no expert in all things technical so would need solution "spelling out". I have Windows 7 Home Premium and all previous solutions do not match up with what I am finding as I work through! Would a different brand of router do the trick? Auntie Dodo
Am in constant contact with Plusnet but no satisfaction as yet. They keep pushing me back to Dell and say it's a problem with the chip in the laptop! Will keep trying. Would a router from Dell solve the problem if I bought one myself and how would this work with my Plusnet provider - I am so unsure about the whole situation.
Thanks for your reassurance that this is my provider's problem.
Window 7 was on the machine when it was purchased. I tried to run the Finding System Information per the link but am not having any luck. I don't have note pad so I hit the Windows and R. It runs but the info dissapears... Is there a way to pull the information back up once its run? Thanks for your help.
I was able to run a CMD prompt which kept the DOS screen up and I have looked at the IP ALL... Wireless LAN State = Media Disconnected, Tunnell adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudio Ubterface= Media Disconnected. Any suggestions?
I was hoping to see if there are settings not listed.
If you run an ipconfig /all log, then right click at the top, left click, select all, right click at the top, left right click, copy, then paste it and save it. It can be posted to the thread.
My concern is that it states, the hardware is not present.
Try reseating the mini card. Instructions HERE.
If it does not work, and the computer is under warranty, then contact Dell Tech Support.

auntiedodo,
Contact your Internet Service Provider. It's a known issue. They'll need to replace your wireless router.

Matt,
Can you try running an ipconfig /all log.
Start, control panel, device manager, network
What network adapters do you have installed?
