Intermittent Connection Issues - Dimension E510 and Netgear DSL Router

I have two Dimension E510 desktop PCs connected to a relatively new Netgear DSL router connected to a Verizon DSL line. Both PCs experience intermittent connection issues where they say network cable is unplugged. Generally it happens to each independently. One will work fine while the other stops working.  Typically I reset the cable at the router or switch the cable to a different port and the connection works again for a period of time.  I have tried adjusting the Link Speed & Duplex settings and it seems to help when I set them both to 10Mbps Full Duplex but it is not 100%.  I am suspect of the Ethernet cards in these Dell PCs and wonder if anyone else has had these issues and if its possible to install new Ethernet cards in these PCs and if that would help. The Ethernet port seems to be integrated with the mother board so not sure if adding a new card is possible.  Any suggestions?

I also noted that all of the wireless devices connected through this router work without any issues.  Although it seems to be working better with both desktop PCs set to 10Mbps full duplex, I decided to order two Netgear Wireless USB adapters for the desktop PCs for $25 each and see if this works better.  Stay tuned.
