Internet connection unavailable even though network connection is excellent
Someone else posted a problem similar to mine. My brand new Inspiron 9300 is showing excellent connectivity to my wireless network, but it won't connect to the web -- I get the "can't find server" error after a delay. Other laptops are connected with good web access, and this computer has good connection to my network. Dell won't help even though the laptop was just shipped. The previous post on this topic suggested to check that the IP address gets selected automaticaly by the router and this fixed his problem. I have already confirmed correct setting on this but it did not change anything. Any ideas?

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Gannonja,
It always gets very confusing trying to help more than one person in the same thread. If the following suggestions don't help, you should start a new thread by posting a new message rather than replying to existing messages. In that new message, it would be helpful to know which model computer you have.
Most newer Dell computers come with either Norton Internet Security or McAfee Security Center preinstalled. Both of these program suites have firewalls that may be blocking your connection to the internet. If you are not sure how to properly configure the firewall in these programs, disable them or uninstall them until you can figure out how to properly configure them. If disabling or uninstalling these firewalls solves your problem, then you can spend some time figuring out how to use them without having the problem and then re-enable them or reinstall them.
