Internet OK but computer won't recognize it

Dimension E510 is 6 weeks old, had cable company reinstall a new modem last night so internet works but computer won't recognize it. What is my next step to solve this problem?

Has the computer been reconfigured for the new modem? IE installing the new drivers?

The cable guy said I should look for a red or burgundy disk and reinstall whatever is on that disk from DELL, does that make any sense?

The set up disks do come in different colors, but you are looking for one that says drivers on it.  You can also go to support.dell.com and download the drivers directly then install them on the other machine.

The cable modem shouold be recognized automatically without any driver assistance.  Try powering down both the modem and PC then power back up waiting 2-3 minutes for the PC after the modem has accquired its signal.
