Internet searches jump to different page

I run a Dell 9100, w/ windows XP, using IE7. I recently reinstalled my hard drive and ever since when I do a "google" search or use any search engine for that matter, I click on the hyperlink I want to go to and I get Redirected/Jumped to another site that is not in any way connected to the site I want to go to. This happens 75 to 90 percent of the time. The remainder of the times it goes to the site I originally wanted. I am at a lose and can't figure out how to fix this problem. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I have searched this forum for others problems like mine, and tried the fixes that was offered, however, It either did not fix the problem or I could not locate the desired program to fix.
