Internet shows connected but its not

Daughters computer, E310 "wireless" Linksys Wrt54g and Dell USB adapter was working fine, then "Limted or No connectivity" pops up.  Then it connects, shows signal strength but No web page will pop up. Again it shows connected, but no web page.  Then a pop up saying this page is unavailable off , then i click connect, but to no avail.  The Dell Wireless control shows signal strength and connection

Other daughters cpu, same set up (xmas presents) works fine and is farther than this cpu to the wireless router.

As na troubleshooting step, can you sucessfully connect this computer to the router and internet using a wired ethernet connection?  Can you connect wirelessly if  you boot to Safe Mode with Networking Support?

Correct.  I tried to connect straight from modem and got "Limted or no conectiviety.  I did not change any settings.  Settings were changed to troubleshoot last night with isp and Linksys, but with the non working cpu attemtpting to connect wireless.

In testing the wired connection, did you do a complete reset of the network after changing the device connected to the modem.  I had hoped you would just try making a wired connection to the router.  If you tried to connect directly to the modem, it complicates the troubleshooting considerably.

Still got the "unavailable page offline," then pop up for "connect or workoffline."  Turned off power to both modem and router for 10 mins or so.

Network shows connected.

The direct connection to the modem test is useless unless you turn off the modem for 5 minutes after changing the device that is connected to it.

Thanks for letting us know that you fixed the problem.   Corruption of the winsock stack is often to due to spyware or removal of spyware.  If you aren't running spyware protection on that computer, you might consider installing the free version of Windows Defender from Microsoft.  Good luck.
