laptop wireless not working until disable local area connection

Question

Hello,

Quite frequently my laptop wireless will not connect until the local area connection is disabled. The wireless icon in the system tray has a red X over it, despite the wireless adapter being enabled within the network control panel and the wireless switch in the enabled position.

The work around is to disable the local area connection, and then the wireless connection immediately starts searching for wireless wireless networks and connects.

Any suggestions so that the wireless adapter connects properly? Thanks.

Notes:

1. Windows 7

2. Latitude E6410

3. When this situation occurs, usually after a wake up from sleep mode

4. Up to date of service packs

Hi sam-me,

It seems like the Local area connection is prioritized first please follow the steps below to move the Wireless connection to the top in the list.

Open Network and Sharing Center in the control panel.
Click on Change Adapter Settings.
Press and release Alt key to show the menu.
Click on Advanced and then Advanced Settings.
Move the Wireless connection to the topmost position (This window says "Connections are accessed by network services in the order they are listed")
