Latitude C610 Modem No Dial Tone Error - Help
I've been trying to find the Modem Helper for the C610 Latitude, but all I've been able to find is the Update Patch for the Modem Helper.
The problem I'm having is the Modem isn't detecting a Dial Tone. The Dell knowledge base states is is a fault that occurs when using the modem outside the US and the Modem Helper needs to be updated.
I don't have the original CD for the Laptop so I don't have the Modem Helper for the C610.

Note I'm running Windows XP and the Modem PCTEL 2304WT V92 MDC and I'm in Australia.
Also note there is nothing wrong with my phone line as my Presario Logs in fine.
Kind Regards
Paul

Hi,
You may have a faulty modem, or a bent pin in the socket. If the socket looks OK, I would replace the modem. With a fault like this, the Diags arent a lot of help. Did it happen after a storm when the modem was plugged in ?

Hi,
From the error message, it sounds like the driver is OK. Device manager will show if there is a driver issue. The modem is the small card under the base door held in with 2 screws. It will be able to be swapped with a number of other Dell's, so you may be able to borrow another to test it. If you do so, be aware that there can be a number of different brands, so you may need to load another driver. If the pins look OK in the socket, it is most likely the modem.
Regards Chris
