latitude D810 wireless card question

I recently purchased a used Latitude D810 notebook for my wife to replace her older C640. The D810 has the Vista Business O/S installed and I had a problem trying to connect wirelessly to the internet. I researched the problem on the Dell website and learned that the IntelPRO card cannot be enabled if running Vista. My question is as follows: is there a wireless card (adapter) that will solve this problem and how do I remove the old and install the new? I'm a PC newbie as I've only worked on Apple computers until now. Thanks for any suggestions.
