limited or no connectivity

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

It will not fix your problem, rather it will provide us with some information that may help us figure out where the problem is.

Can you connect to the router with that computer through a wired ethernet connnection?  If so, that will help us eliminate a software problem.

yup the wep wasnt lettingme connect. i changed it to wpa and it works fine.  two days with dell tech support and they had no idea. thanks to the forum i figured it out

I am having the same problem. I got a new Inspiron 6000 yesterday and it work fine for a few hours, then then next morning I received the 'limited or no connectivity'. I have been having  this problem for the past 4 months. Nothing has worked so far.

Each problem is different.  If you want help with your problem, post a new message to start a new thread rather than posting a reply to an existing thread.  It gets awfully difficult helping more than one person solve a problem in the same thread.  Please explain how you have been having the problem for the last 4 months on a computer that you got yesterday.

I talked to a Dell rep today who fixed my problem. The problem was with my router settings. I was using a security-enabled wireless network. (She said it was one of 2 problems, the key code was wrong, or there were corrupt files on the computer.) I generated the security settings with a WEP passphrase for my Netgear wireless router. I was typing in the actual passphrase instead of the key phrase when choosing a wireless network to connect to. I had to go into safe mode and uninstall my network adapter. When in safe mode, go to start, right click my computer, click on properties, hardware, then device manager. Under the plus sign of network adapters, uninstall the adapter and restart the computer. Then choose your security-enabled wireless network and type in the key code number you have chosen from your router settings...DO NOT TYPE IN THE PASSPHRASE. The passphrase generates 4 or so key codes (as with Netgear) and you need to write down the numbers EXACTLY of the key phrase you select. So to continue, choose your wireless network, hit connect, it will ask for the network key, type in the key code generated by the passphrase (again, not the passphrase itself), and connect. This should work. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the problem is. This is what got me connected to the internet.
