Linking 8600 to FIOS

FIOS will give you a modem+router box. Connect your network card to it with an Ethernet cable.

I wish it were that easy.  I have the router.  I have the cable.  I need the routers and I need to download and save them to a pen-drive on another computer and transfer them to the new computer because, without the drivers you can't use Fios.

So you’re got a DELL PC or Laptop or other DELL products. DELL is a good choice at first glance and it has allot of Products, Warranties, and Technical support that it offers. I have had two DELL computers and will be thus far and I am an architectural design student and DELL PC is really the best choice available if you can’t build your own PC. But DELL is also a company that does not care about there costumers even thought they do everything they can to make it appear as such. They will make it seem real nice at first and you will speak to American sales representatives and they will even include a software and hardware warranty with technical support. But when you have given them your money and you get you product you will find you may have made the worst choice possible. The products will most likely work great at first but as time goes on you will see problems. Then you will come to find there technical support is not what they make it seem to be they are rude, evasive, overbearing, rarely actually fix your problem. The most often thing done is reset to a previous date were the setting and memory was ok and this will not fix it actually hides it. Of course this is only after spending 1 - 6 hours on the phone not understanding what’s said because no one uses English as a first language. Plus if you let them connect to your PC or laptop you will find they commit illegal privacy and control actions without any regard to the fact it’s against the law such as going in whatever file they please and disconnecting your control of things like your mouse, keyboard, and or printer. Then you will realize that there technical support is not trying to solve your issues there just stalling because you will no longer have the warranty endless you were lucky enough to buy the extended warranty. But of course there warranty is for hardware so if you have soft ware problems they won’t help you endless you are willing to pay outrages prices of $150 and more. At this point you will want to lodge a complaint but you will find they have no complaint department and do no policing at all in actuality they will actually do everything they can to avoid it. Such as lie, hang up, provide falls information, send you in circles of operators for hours on end. If you are lucky enough to have a hard ware warranty still active when your product has stopped working correctly and it will most likely happen just about right after your warranty expires but if you are that lucky you will find that they will only give you a refurbished product that is constructed from parts from defective returns or whatever happens to be laying around the shop. So now that you have a DELL product you may want to consider getting your money refunded and building or buying something that wasn’t intended to take your money and then break down forcing you to make another perches with DELL. So I would like to congratulations you in your perches of a DELL you have just been ripped off.

There is no such thing as a FIOS driver.  LIke the song says "The  FIOS is Connected to the MODEM and the MODEM is connceted the ROUTER, and the ROUTER is connected to the 8600 (NIC).  Therefore the only driver you need is the one for the NIC, which has been included in Windows since at least Windows XP

You are completely confused and making things more difficult for yourself than it needs to be.

If you have a working Inspiron 8600 it came with an Ethernet and driver needed for it.

Connect up Ethernet port on your 8600 to FIOS box. End of story.

Then run whatever setup program if any that they give you.

Sorry, but I wish that were the end of the story.  I do exactly what you've said and all I get is that there is no Internet connection; that the page cannot be displayed --- no matter how many times I try it.  I wish it was as easy as you say, but something is screwy.
