Local network - access
When I try to view my network places I receive message that Mshome is not accessible and I might not have permission to use the network resource. I only have a lap top and desk top. The internet is set up thru the hub. Both machines have access to the internet. The other problem is that I can ping both machines from the the lap top but cannot ping any machines from the desk top. The desk is listed on the lap top workgroup computers but when I try to look at the desk top it states it is not accessible. It seems the whole problem is the desk top which is not giving access to anything.

LimeyPaul,
I just thought about this - since everything was working OK previously, maybe you should use Device Manager to roll back to the previous network driver? If you do automatic updates and your driver file is dated right after Christmas, this sounds suspicious. Is that about the time things quit working? I would try rolling back to what you had before that.

I don't know about that, but here is the link to the one I used.

I am using my update which checks the drivers for new updates. Is there a way to override and actually pick up a driver based on date?

Thanks but unfortunately I have had the problem for so long I am not sure when it actually happened. Not being technically minded I have not kept a track of when things happened. I do not use my home network every day or week.
