"mini-coax antenna cable"

I quote from the page dell give us to help upgrading our i8100s (don't know the url, I've saved it locally):

"Depending on what type of Mini PCI card you are installing, either connect the wiring harness to the Mini PCI card assembly, or connect the mini-coax antenna cable to the Mini PCI card assembly and to the internal antenna. "

Well, I've got a combo card at the moment and would like to go wireless - where am I meant to be the mini-coax antenna cable from? Is it standard? If I'm getting a card such as the dlink 520+ will it still be included?

I don't think I've not noticed this issue before, and any advice would be warmly received.

Ooh heck sounds rather pricey, 'specially as I live in the uk - well, thanks for your help and I'll hope I can scavenge one off someone.. :)

See if you can find a European similiar vendor that handles Hirose parts - they make the U.FL connector series.

I can't find anyone - does anyone out there know of a suitable european reseller? I'm only interested in ready made cables, I'm hardly up to doing tv coax, I think this too fiddly for me!

Also, I thought I saw someone that got 10 or so, but can't find the post to clarify... feel like selling me one? ;)

Greetings,

I would suggest that you take a quick look at the Hirose website.  They're a UK company with links to distributors throughout Europe.  It's not clear to me whether any of them will deal in small quantities like it appears Newark will, but I would suggest you try.  Their website has the U.FL series connectors on the front page (as of today).

I will also note that the link to the Newark site contained in this thread is broken.  I was able to find the parts at this link:

http://www.newark.com/NewarkWebCommerce/newark/en_US/support/catalog/productDetail.jsp?voucherCode=&id=95B8961

which contains the part number at the end.  This is the 2" cable.  There are 4" and 6" variants as well, which you can find by incrementing the part number at the end of the URL by one.  If this link breaks, you can also extract the Newark P/N (95B8961) and put it into the search box on their home page.

If anyone can tell me the approximate length of this world-famous 37THY cable, I would be very interested.  Otherwise, I'll likely have to work via trial-and-error.

Cheers,
