MODEM OK BUT NO INTERNET CONNECTION

I have a 4550 Series, the modem ADSL works fine (teste and so on); but the conenction stops after 30 to 40 seconds. Apparently the Ethernet card is not connected. I have tried unsuccessfully to find the driver on the Dell Resource CD. No driver. Any idea ? Can the card be replaced (may be it is a built-in card).
Desperate!!!
