The Dell supplied drivers are probably the only ones that will work or work correctly in your modem. Many Dell supplied devices are proprietary (custom made for Dell) and require Dell drivers. The Dell drivers are on the Dell download site for your specific model.
In most cases, Dell does not issue driver updates unless a device is not performing to published specs. Retail drivers may be updated frequently but those drivers are designed for many PC systems and a particular PC model may have a specific problem and the reason for that update - and may have nothing to do with other PC brands or models or operating systems.
What problem are you having with your modem?

Thank you for responding so quickly.
I 3have got some real slow connection speeds and a lot of disconnects. And pages are real slow loading, I have ran 2 different virus scans and both showed nothing detected.
Thanks again

Your problem sounds like a telephone line problem, not a modem hardware problem or not a driver problem.
The first thing to do is listen to the telephone line with a voice telephone and see if you hear any clicks, cross talk, a hum, etc. If you do it's probably a telco problem and should be reported to your local access telephone company.
Another potential problem area is a bad telephone in the residence or a cordless phone or answering machine. Disconnect each voice phone in the residence from the telco line (the wall jack) and see if it makes a difference. If it does then you can start plugging them back in one at a time until you find the one that is causing the problem. Another telco problem can be "inside wiring" - the telco wiring and wall jacks inside the residence and unless you have a special maintenance contract with the telephone company they are your (customer) responsibility. Another thing you can do is try connecting to a different telephone jack in the residence and see if that makes any difference. Also replace the RJ-11 telco interconnect cable between the modem and the telco wall jack.
Telco line problems can be hard to isolate so it may take a while to troubleshoot.
One last issue with disconnects. If you are on AOL, AOL is famous for random disconnects.
