My Network Places Incomplete

Operating a 2 pc home network with a Diminsion 4600 and an Inspiron 8200 both using XP Home the network is established and from the desktop pc I can view all of the shared folders of both pcs in My Network Places. However, on the laptop only two of the four shared folders of the desktop are visible. The work around is to have the laptop show all workgroup computers and from there all the folders are visible. Why can't I get the main My Network Places screen to show them all?

I finally discovered that the solution was to use the wizard to "Add a Network Place".
