My PC (Optiplex 740) had a problem. It can't find any network adapter. I just have re-installed windows 3 times and installed network driver form Dell but it was not used. Somebody help me. Thank you very much.
As you can see, no network apdapter, no network driver.
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
The OptiPlex 740 platform incorporates an integrated Broadcom 5754 Gigabit Ethernet LAN solution. Follow the instructions shared by Rick, also make sure that integrated network interface controller (NIC) is enabled in BIOS. In BIOS under Onboard Devices you will find Integrated NIC. The settings are as follows:
Off — Integrated NIC is disabled.
On — Integrated NIC is enabled.
On w/ PXE — Integrated NIC is on (with PXE enabled).
On w/ RPL — Integrated NIC is on (with RPL enabled).
Note: PXE or RPL is needed only if you intend to boot to an operating system located on a server, not if you are booting to an OS located on a hard drive in this system. Default settings shall be 'On'.
Please boot to BIOS by tapping F2 key when you restart the system and make sure that Integrated NIC is enabled. Also, you may run diagnostics on the system to confirm hardware functionality. Here are the steps:
Restart the system and immediately start tapping the 'F12' key to enter the 'Boot Menu'.
Use the 'Down Arrow' key to highlight the 'Diagnostics' option. Press the 'Enter' key.
The diagnostics will begin. Please note the exact error message/code, if any appears on the screen.
Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions.
