Need a pci simple communications controller driver for D610

Question

Just got a D610 with no drivers cd. Rebuilt the laptop with TxDOT image and now I get a message found new hard ware pci simple communications controller. Where can I get this driver at?

If you go to the product support tab above, select downloads from the drop down menu and select the right driver.

Hi,

Why not take the modem out and see if the message goes away ? If you are then sure the modem is the issue ( which it sounds like ) you can look for a driver that may work.

Chris, I have downloaded the one and only modem driver and it doesn't fix the problem. Have rebuilt the laptop using the cd's that came with it and I get the same results. Hardware detects a PCI Simple Communications Controller and there is no driver to load. I think Dell forgot to put another driver out on its website that these new D610 need.

Since I had gotten 2 new D610's in and rebuilt one that I left one alone so I check it out and found a directory on it with drivers. I found the correct driver which follows:   The laptop (wizard) was asking for a pci simple communications controller what it actually wanted was a Texas Instruments PCI GemCore SmartCard controller It was under C:\drivers\system and the actual inf file that it is looking for is  gtipci21.inf   On Dell's website that driver is under the chipset heading and labeled Texas Instruments PCI 6515 Cardbus.   I was using Dell's chat and they couldn't figure this out either.   FYI Before rebuilding copy the driver directory if it is there (dell don't send drivers cd anymore unless you beg them to)   Thanks

I had the exact same problem and found the answer when I found your post!  Thanks for the great info.  I didn't even realize this model now had a smart card reader integrated.   By the way, the driver can be downloaded from Dell's support web site.  The correct link is found under the 'Chipset' section of drivers for this model Latitude.   Sweet.   -Aaron

I was re-installing XP on my Dell 610, and had this exclamation right next to PCMCIA adapters.

Several times when i had to re-install neverhadthis issue. Also Dell lists this as optional ????

I installed another driver under chipset "R165177.exe"

It fixed the problem.

I know I'm replying to a really old post but your answer is perfect.  It is the TI PCI Cardbus driver that the computer needs.  Thank you.
