Hey, Big Brother--I have a couple problems with my Dell Dimension 2300 maybe you can help me out with. My sound disappeared. Says no MIDI processor installed, I tried everything to find the right disk to reinstall it, but there are so many and none of them (as the computer said when trying each disk) said that they had the correct information on them.
Sound card is not installed or working--where is the sound card? A book I have says it's the place in the back where the mouse, speakers and monitor plug in, is that it? Duh, I can run 'em, don't know much about the inner functions of computers. Plus, my monitor when I start up the computer starts out okay, the usual colors, and then about half way through loading the tray, the screen goes black and then comes up with the lowest bits for the screen and in all funky colors, etc. I have to go into settings and fix the resolution to 32 bits every time~that's frustrating. Then all of a sudden my mouse stops working-no pointer at all, so I have to wiggle the plug in and then restart the computer to get my mouse working again. Seems that entire place for the mouse, speakers, and monitor plug in is loose in the CPU. Is that the sound thing or what?
One last thing--this is more of a WordPerfect10 (XP) and DSL Yahoo problem. Why when I type out a job application and copy it to my email program on Yahoo does it double space the top w/my name, address etc. and who the ap is going to, and the body of the letter is single spaced just like the original letter I copied, but then the sincerely, so & so and my phone number and attachment line are all double spaced again? Can you help me with that? SBC Yahoo has a bunch of ya-hoo's working for them, and couldn't give me a definitive answer.
Anything you can suggest or tell me would be greatly appreciated!
