Network Card Diagnostics (XPS9100)
I've been getting the BSOD randomly on the internet and just went through the Dell diagnostics - by component and symptom. Only error I got was for the Network card : Strength Signal test Tested and needs attention. But no further instructions or suggestions. What do I do to investigate this?
Network card: Dell 1525 WLAN Pcle Card (802.11n) with external antenna.
The computer is connected to the router via ethernet cable.
I've talked to Dell tech support and they're convinced it's a software problem but this implies otherwise.
Thanks for any help.

PC Challenged,
You ran the Dell Diagnostics, pressed F12 at the Dell Screen?
Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, and an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

I ran the Diagnostics from the Dell Support page - I think it was troubleshooting - and it gave me the option to run Diagnostigs for the System, individual component or by symptom. I got that message (re: the strength signal) when I ran it for ind component (Network card) and sympton - "network".
When looking for system info, I followed the 2nd of the 2 and got to the black screen, Admin:Command Prompt, Network card, but I'm not sure what the product ID and registered owner refers to.
Thanks for your help.

Ray,
Need to run as administrator.
You can run the ipconfig /all log, that will also help

Ok when I scroll up to the top of the "black screen" I see the system info - with my name and Product ID. Then a long list of "hotfix(s) installed" (159) : KB2xxxxxx. THEN, the info about the network card. Which info did you want? Thanks

Just to reiterate, I've got the wireless router connected to the computer with an ethernet cable. (maybe that's why it says "media disconnected" above under [03] WiFi?) Everything else in the house is running from the wireless.
Also, on the blue screen I get code 00x00000124. I got various interpretations of what that meant when I searched on-line. One was inadequate rear ventilation which doesn't seem to be a problem with mine. Thanks

PC Challenged,
I see a valid IP address for the DW1525 (802.11n) WLAN PCIe Card
I would try shutting down the computer, unplug it from the wall, then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Try reseating the DW1525 (802.11n) WLAN PCIe Card and make sure the antenna is connected.
How far away is this computer from your wireless router?
What do you see in your device manager?
What virus program and firewall are you using?

I had contacted Dell support via email telling them about the blue screen and message re: the network card needing attention. I gave them an earlier reference # for a support call. To my surprise they replied that they are sending out a tech to replace my mother board, memory, hard drive and video card. Let's hope that solves the problem. Thanks for all your help.
