NETWORK HELP - Not connecting to the wireless network
Inspirion 6400, XP I had downloaded virus protection (McAfee 90 day trial) that made my internet stop working. I deleted it. I tried to do a system restore that didn't fix or finish. Windows firewall does not start. Wireless network connection shows signal strength but the Activity area has the yellow exclamation point. Trying to View Wireless Network = Windows cannot configure this wireless connection If you have enabled another program to manage this connection, use that software... see article 871122. At start up I get: BackWeb Error (Cannot start Logitech Desktop Messenger: Sockets init failed) I think this is related to software for a Logitech remote I had tried to remove with the virus software before I uninstalled it. Going to My Network Places is Sloooow to respond. Balloons: Your computer might be at risk: No firewall is turned on Antivirus software might not be installed. I get Intel Wireless Troubleshooter popping up: (The wireless adapter failed to get a valid IP address. This can be due to an authentication failure with the network, incorrect wireless passwords, or because of a DHCP server malfunction.) I have read suggestions and have tried so many things without success. Any ideas?
