Networking laptop and desktop
Both my laptop and desktop are running XP SP2. I have disabled Windows Firewall and uninstalled Zone Alarm on both systems. Both computers have the same workgroup name. On the desktop I can see and access the laptop. On the laptop I can see but I cannot access the desktop.
The desktop is wired directly to the router/modem.
The laptop is wireless.
They are successfully sharing an internet connection.
When at the laptop I can ping the desktop fine, but if I go to my workgroup and click on the desktop
I get the error message that it cannot be accessed, that I might not have permission to use the
network resource.
I am unsure as to what to do next.
Thanks,
Mouse1

XP Home or XP Pro? If XP Pro, is simple file sharing turned on?
Do you have a shared folder on each computer?

XP Home.
Yes, both have a shared folder.
I can access the shared folder on the laptop, but not the desktop.
