"No Bluetooth Device Was Fount in the System" Error message

I have a brand new Blackberry Storm (Verizon) and a Latitude D430.  I have installed the latest BT drivers on the laptop.  I have installed the VZAcess Manager and the Blackberry Manager as well.  I have properly activated the BT on the phone.  I have gotten familiar with the toggle switch which turns on and off the BT and the wireless.  Both my husband, a direhard physicist Linux user, and  I have spent hours trying to use the phone as a modem (yes, have paid for the privilege of doing so) to no avail.  It will not work with the USB cable nor will it work with BT. 

If I connect with the direct cable, the computer doesn't see the device.

When I try and connect with Bluetooth, both the laptop and phone will flash their BT lights at me and try to connect, then I get the error message above:   "No Bluetooth Device was Found in the System."  I have found some HP users have experienced this, but so far, no Dell users.

I would really appreciate being able to use the phone as the modem as right now, I'm having to resort to Dial-Up!  Please, help me get out of the 20th century!

Am using XP with Service Pack 3 and the latest Bluetooth drivers.  If you know a work around, I'll try it.  Many Blessings
