No Bluetooth on Vostro 3500
I have never needed to use Bluetooth before, and now I find it will not turn on. This VOSTRO 3500 was successfully upgraded to Windows 10 a year ago or more. There is no Bluetooth icon in the tray. Following advice found on the Internet, I have tried to install a Dell Bluetooth driver, but Windows refuses to let it run. "This app has been blocked for your protection." I tried to run it using the command prompt (admin) and now it says "Your Bluetooth Software license does not include use on this operating system. [-350]"
Is there a way I can get Bluetooth to work on this Dell 3500?

Hi khs10uk,
Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately, Dell has not tested the Vostro3500 and Windows 10. Here is the information from the product support page: http://dell.to/2hYnTFh
Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade
Dell is not testing or developing Windows 10 drivers for this product. If you choose to upgrade, some features, applications, and connected devices may not work as expected.
With that said, have you tried reloading the drivers from the original OS that came with the machine? You could also research which card your machine has by using Belarc, or the link to the support page above, look for the manufacturer's web page and download a Win10 driver from there.

Thank you Albuquers, for your suggestion to use the Levona link you posted. It worked.
Here’s the link again with English selected. If not, select English.
https://support.lenovo.com/br/en/downloads/ds031759
When I upgraded my old Dell Vostro 3500 to Windows 10 Pro, there were no Bluetooth icons in the Device Manager, and Windows 10 Troubleshooter reported this Dell Vostro 3500 had “no bluetooth device”. Nothing would find the bluetooth radio device & turn it back on. I must have watched ever YouTube video related to Bluetooth. No luck.
I tried installing bluetooth related drivers from previous OSs from Dell website and Microsoft Update Catalog. All were rejected, or won’t install, mainly because I didn’t have any Bluetooth icon(s) showing in the Device Manager.
By good luck, I found this tread and link post by albuquers . With nothing to lose, I hit the link above, and changed language to English (top, right).
Before downloading, note the Lenovo file is shown as a Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver 12.0.0.6000 date 12 Nov 2013 for Windows 10, 8.1 and 8 (32 & 64 bit).
Here’s the big bonus going this route. The downloaded Lenovo exe file has a Setup Wizard to help install the Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 drivers on the Dell Vostro 3500. I just followed the Lenovo prompts, watch the long install process on the screen, rebooted the Dell , and it all worked 100%.
I now have “Bluetooth” back on my Device Manager. Cheer!🥳 See photo below.
On the Bluetooth icon on the lower right tray, right click, open settings, and Windows 10 now says I have a Bluetooth device which is discoverable as “Dell-Laptop”. Cheer again! 🥳
Photo below. As a test, I was able to pair with my iPad and play music from the iPad to the Dell (could only be heard on plug in headphones on the Dell). I see my revived Dell bluetooth has also found the Samsung Smart TV’s bluetooth. No practical purpose for either, but shows Bluetooth is functional again on my old Dell Vostro 3500 using W10.
Two photos below confirm the Bluetooth in the Device Manager and that pairing works.
Now that I have Bluetooth again on the Device Manager with working drivers, I could search the Microsoft Update Catalog for newer Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Drivers for Windows 10 64 bit....but I likely won’t do this step since the Bluetooth is now functioning and really have no immediate need for bluetooth on the Dell Vostro 3500.
Hope this helps other Dell Vostro 3500 and other model owners.

Neilmack:
I was not as fortunate as you. The Lenovo driver did not work for my Dell Vostro 3500. The directions for installation are straight forward, I think I did what I was supposed to do. I installed as 'administrator', etc.
A couple of years ago, I added memory to my Dell, which required that I upgrade to Windows 10 Pro (64-bit). Before that, I am not sure how long it had been since I noticed that the bluetooth was not working.
Now, I would like to have the bluetooth working, but cannot find a compatible driver. The Services listing (Win R, services.msc) shows bluetooth is running, but no drivers showing in the listing for devmgmt.msc.
If anyone has advice, I would appreciate it.
