No connection when wireless, but can connect when wired

I have a Dell Inspiron B120 that's connected to a Netgear MR814 wireless router with BellSouth FastAccess DSL.  I'm able to connect to the internet and surf just fine when I'm using the LAN cable; however, when I try to connect wireless, I'm unable to do so.  I've upgrade the firmware on both my BellSouth issued Westell 2100 modem and my Netgear router hoping that this would help, but it has not.  Any thoughts on what I should do next?  I'm currently in the process of downloading the latest driver for my network adapter.  Please help.  It's very frustrating have a wireless laptop but unable to use it.

If you wish to utilize the wireless capability of your router, make certain you have a wireless network adapter for your laptop?
Which brand/model network adapter is it?

It's the Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card manufactured by Broadcom.

Your wireless adapter will need to be configured in your router's web utility. This is best accomplished while your laptop is connected to one of the four ethernet ports on the back of the router. Open a browser window and type in the address window http://192.168.0.1 (I think that's the one for Netgear routers?) Enter whatever password data you originally configured on the router and follow your user guide instructions for configuring wireless adapters to have access to your router. After, everything is done. Power cycle your network and try it out. Post back after results?

I had tried this several times before, but tried again for good measure.  I am now able to get a connection via the wireless; however, I'm only able to access one or two websites, and it takes those one or two sites a while to download.  I've reset my browser to its defaults settings hoping this would help, but it has not.  Any other suggestions?  Like I said before, if I'm connected via the LAN, I have not problems.

Do you have any third party software firewalls installed on your laptop?(Norton Internet Security, McAfee Security, Trend Micro, etc.) Have you configured them for your network and internet access?

It isn't mentioned in previous posts but, you have updated the driver for your wireless card, Yes?

Yes, I've done that, but am still having the same problem.

At this point, I would suggest getting a friend's wireless laptop and duplicating the settings from your's to their's. If it doesn't maintain wireless access, then you know the problem is with the router.

The problem is the router.  I took my laptop to a friend's house who has a Linksys router and I didn't have any problems accessing any websites.  I've been in contact with Netgear support, but nothing they're asking me to try for troubleshooting seems to work.  Look like it's time to purchase a Linksys.  :smileyhappy: Thanks so much for all your help.
