No connection with wi-fi router

I have a new Dimension 5150 (with XP Pro) and I just installed a D-Link wi-fi router, connecting it from my DSL modem and the computer. I get the connection from outside, but I can't get the internet connection on the computer. I've consulted the D-Link support site and think I've tried all of their troubleshooting suggestions. One thing they say is to disable other PPPoE software. I'm wondering how I determine whether I have any installed. Thanks for any ideas!! :smileyhappy:

This article is a little dated so just substitute WPA for WEP.  Can you connect thru the router with a wired connection?

thanks for the links, I'll consult those articles. I'm sorry, I wasn't clear with my message. The router itself is a (ethernet) wired connection; I'm setting it up so that I can get wireless internet on my laptop sitting on the next table.

Forget wireless access for a minute.  Can you connect via ethernet to the router and then to the internet?  If so, then your configuration settings are wrong for the wireless setup.
