no internet service precision 420

Question

wife's computer lost connection to internet 7/28/07. my connection still okay. using roadrunner with router. replaced network cable and NIC in the 420 but still no connection. tried different ports on router same result. running w2k pro any help appreciated. Ray

connected by ethernet cable. tried new cable, no help. don't know router brand or model#. not at home right now but tried different ports on router, no help. my computer is connected to same router and I have no problems. Thanks Ray

Are you power-cycling your network components each time you change out parts and cables?

Network Power-cycle steps:

1) Power everything off. (cable/DSL modem, router, computers, etc.)
2) Wait 5 minutes...
3) Power on cable/DSL modem, wait 1-2 minutes...
4) Power on router, wait an additional 1-2 minutes...
5) Power on remaining computers or components.
6) Check for network and Internet connection.
