My problem is similar to one posted earlier today by ddontheweb, but more unusual.

My computer is a inspiron 17r and is only a month old. for the last week or 2, it has been disconnecting from the internet while at home. The computer says it has an internet connection and is discoverable on the LAN, but will not connect to the internet for browsing, email or any other internet activity. I can restore the internet by rebooting the computer, or by rebooting the router and modem, or by deleting the network and re-establishing it through the network sharing center. Any of these will work, but somewhere between 1 minute and several hours, I will again lose the internet. I have several other computers and devices and none of them lose the internet so I know the router and the modem are fine. This also ONLY happens at home. I take the computer to work and connect with no problems and stay connected for 9 or 10 hours.

I have looked for answers and have tried ip release and winsock resets. these also work for a period of time but eventually fail as well. I am at my wits end and want to return the computer but would love to try a fix if someone knows what the issue is.

Any help, advise, or direction where to turn is greatly appreciated!
