Norton Internet Security and Virus Protection

Question

My Norton Internet Security and Virus Protection seems to randomly shut itself off.  Does anyone know of a fix to this problem, or is it best to uninstall and go with another vendor's product.? Any recommendations for a better product than Norton?

I like F-Secure. It is not the system hog that Norton's is and it plays very nice with SP2.

What error message pops up when it disables itself? Sometimes it is as easy as updating with live update.

No error message pops up when it turns itself off, that is one of the major problems.  The red line accross the icon shows up, but I don't always notice that right away.
