On hotel network but can't access internet

Question

I'm staying at a Holiday Inn hotel. I'm using an Inspiron 600m with IntelPro 2200 mini PCI network adapter. Using the hotel-provided logon and password, I can log onto their network but when I try to access the internet I get a looping default page saying I'm logged on. I spoke to the tech support people for the network provider (intech) who could 'see' me. They reset everything at their end and on the hotel server but the problem persisted. Same thing when they guided me through flushing the DNS. In the end they gave up saying it was probably a hardware incompatability but I find that highly unlikely since it's an intel card. I'm not a techie but can find my way around most settings. Has anyone got any tips/thoughts on what I might try. (Please don't suggest trying another card as unfortunately I don't have access to one). Thanks in advance.

It has been awhile but the last time I did this I had to 1.  Open browser and sign in using hotel provided credentials 2.  Open NEW browser window to access the net...leaving the first one alone. LT

Thanks so much. The weirdest thing happened. I did what you said and it worked! Weirder still. After doing that once, I found that the problem totally disappeared and I could get online from the first browser screen. Go figure! But anyway, I'm eternally grateful for your help and advice.
