PLease Help with networking laptop and desktop, desperate here!
I have a sony vaio desktop and a dell latitude CPX laptop. The laptop I dont know much about . I have added a wireless router to my cable internet and connected desktop which works fine. But the laptop doesnt do anything when I place the belkin wirless notebook network card in. I followed the instructions but the lights dont even light up on the card. it is 802.11g as is the router. is this a laptop problem or card? I have never had the laptop connected to internet except thru the cable modem and usb cable to make sure it would connect. I want wireless with this belkin but no luck. Do I need to change anything or configure anything to make it work? could the card slot be bad? Please help. Thanks. Oh the dell has 12 g harddrive and 125 MB ram,498 MHz intel Pen lll processor, running win XP prof. on it. My son gave it to me so I know nothing about it other then that. Thanks for any and all help.

Does the wireless network card show up in Device Manager with no problems indicated? If you open network connections, does the wireless network connection show up there?

It's more likely the PC card is bad than it is that the slot is bad. Do you know anyone else with a laptop that you can test the card on?
