Please need Help on my wireless connection (urgent)

Hi,

My laptop couldn't use the wireless network connection all of the sudden. I have no clue why was that. I have re-installed the driver of my 1450 Dual Band WLAN min-PCI card on my Inspiron 5150 laptop and checked my wireless setting. I have checked the cable connection and restarted the cable modem several times as well. It still couldn't solve the problem. It seems the DHCP couldn't get the right IP address since the IP always shown as 169.254.180.219. I have other desktop that connected to the wireless network, it doesn't have any problem at all.

Please help me out.

Many thanks.

P.S. I have tried to install the new version (4.10) of driver for my WLAN card, however, all the characters that shown on the screen box is '?' question marks after the installation completed. I don't know why. The driver that I installed is in English version. Thus, I used my old version driver for my WLAN card currently.

  • What's the operating system of your laptop?

  • uninstall the network controller/dell 1450 from device manager and Dell wireless software from add or remove programs. then download the driver for dell 1450 WLAn mini-pci card (win xp):

  • disable dell wireless utility: start>all programs>dell wireless> dell wlan card utility> uncheck  "Let this tool manage my wireless settings", check enable radio; click Apply.
  • Reconnect to wireless network using the wireless network icon on sys tray.
hope it works..
