Precision390 incompatible with Belkin Pre-N wireless adapter

We bought Belkin Pre-N wireless adapters to work with our new Precision 390s.  That is not the adapter Dell recommends; Dell recommends Netgear.  But our router is a Belkin Pre-N...that's the reason for our choice.  For the Belkin adapter, the driver installed, the device showed up in Device Manager and showed that it was working properly.  The client utility installed.  But the wireless adapter would not detect the wireless signal from the router.  We tried it in our Dimension 9150.  No go.  We tried it in our Dimension 8400..........voila, it worked on that one.  (Older is better)  So we know that the card is not faulty.  So I spent two hours on the phone with Belkin support.  I spent awhile with our local IT consultant.  Then I spent 3 hours total with Dell chat (they gave up) and on the phone with the Dell wireless department who used their new handy dandy remote control tool.  They finally gave up.  So the solution is, they are sending me Netgears and I will return the Belkins.  It's a pity.  I put this on the forum in hopes that whatever this incompatibility is might somehow be resolved either by Dell or by Belkin.  I have not yet received the Netgears, so I cannot verify if they will work or not.  That's for the future.
