Printer sharing between XP Home and XP Media Center
I have two computers, A & B, hanging off a Linksys wireless router.
A - Dell 8200 runnng XP Home SP2, hardwired into Linksys wrt54g router, has Epson 1000 printer pluged in via USB. Running Spysweeper and SafeEyes. IP 192.168.1.100
B- Dell E1520 running XP Media Center 2002 wireless to same router. Running Spysweper. IP 192.168.1.101
Both have file sharing turned on, both belong to MSHOME workgroup. Ran Home Network setup on each.
Want to print from laptop to the Epson, which is the shared printer hanging off off the desktop.
Machine A can see B thru the network.
Machine B can not see A thru the network.
MS Firewall turned off on both.
Both machines can ping each other via IP address.
Since B can not see A thru the network, I can not use the shared desktop printer to the laptop. Tried via Network browser and straight ip connect in RUN....
Any thoughts?
Both have all MSFT patches up to date.

What is Safe Eyes? Do you have any third party firewalls running on machine A?

Safe Eyes is a web content filter
www.safeeyes.com
Their tech support told me it does not interfere with print/file sharing.
I've used it before with similar config's, and it doesnt interfere with networking.

Try downloading and following the Microsoft document on troubleshooting File and Printer Sharing from the following site:

Let us know if that helps solve the problem.

Thanks!!! The troubleshooting doc helped me fix the problem...
The issue:
The File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component was either not installed or disabled. To verify that the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component is installed and enabled, do the following:
1.Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
2.Click the connection that is connected to your home network, and then click Change settings of this connection in the Tasks pane.
In the properties of the network connection, under This connection uses the following items, verify that the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component is installed and enabled (the check box is checked).
