Problem with Precision M90 & Sierra Wireless AirCard 850
Dear friends,
I have been trying to install Sierra Wireless AirCard 850 to a brand new Dell Precision M90 workstation but without success so far. When reading this forum I understood that many of you has been able to use Sierra Wireless products even with notebooks/ workstations without PCMCIA.
The problem: Sierra Wireless AirCard Watcer is unable to see the card (there is an icon with red X over it and text "device unavailable" ).
Hardware + OS: Dell Precision M90 with docking station, Elan U111 USB > PCMCIA converter, Sierra Wireless AirCard 850 + Win XP SP2
Actions so far:
- Installation of AirCard Watcher application
- Installation of U111
- Installation of AirCard's drivers
All installations has been succesful (and done many times indeed).
In device manager I am able to see both U111 and Sierra Wireless AirCard (as a modem). Both are working properly Windows says.
In Sierra Wireless' support page there are some advice to disable internal modem, infrared port and network card. I have tried to disable modem but not network card (there is no IR port in this workstation). Should I try to disable network card also? I would like to have it enabled because usually I work in LAN but sometimes AirCard is needed to connect company's network.
Has any of you had this kind of problem and been able to solve it? ANY advice would be appreciated.
Brg,
timonenj
