Problems Connecting to T1 ethernet with Netgear Router
Hi! I am new to this forum, but have already found a ton of useful facts! THANKS!!!
So here's my problem. I just moved into an apt. with T1 service. We have the jack in the wall and they gave us instructions on how to set up the connection if I want to be wired into the wall all the time and I followed those instructions precisly. (They had to do with going to internet connections and setting up the Local Area Network with the right IP addresses and such.)
I have a Netgear wireless WGR614 router that I used before with a Comcast cable modem. When I plug the router into the ethernet connection, the computer tells me that the wireless connection is found. However, when I try to launch Internet Explorer (the way I always have) Nothing happens. It doesn't tell me that there is no server found or anything... In fact the program stops responding and I have to close it. Does this mean that I have a connection but its not working right? What should I do if this is the case?
DO I need a different router to connect wirelessly with T1? I read something about how cable and T1 work differently. I looked into the router description and it says it's a "cable/DSL" router.
Thank you so much to anyone who responds to this post. I need help!
