pulse dialing vs. tone dialing

Question

I have a dimension 4600 and I have set my system up to tone dial (and we do have tone dialing in our area) and the system defaults to pulse dialing which we believe in turn will not allow us to connect faster than 28.8K any ideas? Help?

Type of dialling will have no bearing on the connect rate.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any ideas how we can increase the speed ... it is capable of 56K and no luck.
