raspppoe "always on"

I'm running xp professional using Verizon DSL/w/raspppoe. Trying to schedule a task to make raspppoe come on when PC starts but no luck. The task scheduler says the task is working and running but I still have to start the connection manually.

If anyone out there has successfully got this task to run I'd appreciate the steps they took. Also I set up the task as administrator and the password to get to the internet is entered and any user checked off.

Thanks,

Jim in Boston

Look in the Services Applet and change the startup function to Automatic.

Thanks, I've already tried that, and found it was already set to automatic.

You want the connection to connect when the PC starts?  Correct?

yes. And I'm wondering if the target C:\WINDOWS\system32\rasphone.exe "-d"always on"" is correct

Shouldn't your DSL modem be keeping the connection alive?

In a perfect world, yes.  One of the advantages of "always on" (essentially an automatic start of the internet
service when the machine turns on)  is when microsoft update is active and automatically reboots the machine.  If the internet comes on automatically the next update can begin.
