According to the 1184 online User manual, its address is http://192.168.2.1.  The utility should match that so maybe the utility has a configuration menu for itself (vs. the router).  But you can use the router's web based utility (you know, it really ought to be called a browser based utility) by just typing http://192.168.2.1 into the IE address bar.

No luck, my router is connected to the laptop but 192.168.2.1 does not bring on the menu. The page is not being recognised.

Also launching the page from the system utility 1184 tool does not work.

Funny thing though that username is admin (default) but the password is nothing and not admin which should be the default setting after resetting.

Anyway still no menu

Have you tried 192.168.2.1 from IE?

Sadly, we have reached the limit of my 1184 knowledge base.  The hangup seems to be in the username/password for the 1184.  You might try yet another complete reset of the router and PC to see if that breaks the lockout.

A call to Dell technical support may reveal an answer.

Churchill once said that despite adversity we must keep our sense of humor (and if he didn't he should have).  In that vein I offer the "alternative of last resort:"

1. Take the 1184 to the local hardware store.
2. Purchase the biggest, meanest sledgehammer you can afford.
3. Return to the parking lot and take out your frustration on the 1184 using the recent purchase.
4. Feeling refreshed, drive to local Best Buy, Circuit City, Frys or neighborhood electronics store.
5. Purchase a Linksys BEFW11S4.
6. Return home and install BEFW11S4.

I hope by now Dell was able to find the solution to your problem cause I'm having the same. First my 1184 worked fine till I got some problems with it when trying to make a LAN. After a lot of searching and asking around somebody gave me the tip to reset the 1184. Which I did. From that moment on I got stuck with adres 192.168.0.10 also on my router.

Did dell give you some tips on how to solve that problem. Could you share these please?

I had this exact problem.  It turned out my router went bad.  I could not reset the router using normal methods.  The lights never flashed.  It took me three tries to get a new 1184 router from Dell.  The first came in as a TrueMobile 1180 Wireless USB Adapter and the second came in as a Targus Port Replicator.  Go figure.  The third time was the charm and the router is functioning correctly now.
