Reinstall WinXp, No Ethernet

I purchased a refurb Dell XPS 400, loaded WinXP but cannot get internet up because Ethernet connection has a ? beside it (needs driver I assume).  Looked up drivers for XPS 400 but there was not an Ethernet / Networking driver identified.  Loaded the Chip Set driver, thenAm I on the right track?  Where do I find the driver and what's my next step?

Thanks

If you loaded the chipset drivers first, then all you need to do is load the drivers for the integrated network adapter (that's the ethernet adapter).  The drivers are HERE

Steve,
Thanks for the link....where did I go wrong in searching for the driver?  Can you tell me how you found it?

okron,

You were looking for something that "ethernet" in the name of the device.   Dell assumes network adapters are ethernet adapters unless they specifically say wireless network adapters.

I see what I did....I had entered a service tag number in the drivers area.  That led me to the screen where you choose an operating system and a language.  I left it at the WinXP x64 default, with that choice I got a list of drivers but there were not any Network or Communication drivers as there are in your link where the OS is just WinXp (no x64)

What is the difference between WinXp and WinXP x64?

XP-64 only runs on machines with a 64 bit CPU.  There are fewer dirvers available and it is more expensive.  You most likely have just XP.
