Reinstalling Windows XP Home edition (Dimension 4600)
I need Help
I am trying to help a mate reinstall Windows XP Home edition on his Dell Dimension 4600. I am not new to installing Windows at all, having had to do it since the days of Windows 95. Before I did the reinstall, I remember that in device manager, there was a Broadcom NIC, but now, having reinstalled Windows, there is not a sign of anything connected with drivers for a Broadcom NIC. Instead, all I am getting is a default 1394 Network device and when I install the Dell driver disc, there are only drivers for a Intel NIC. If I install these, everything seems to run normally, untill I try and install a BT 1055 wireless adaptor, which, prior to reinstallation, ran perfectly OK and could connect with the BT home hub. Now, it won't see the hub at all and I think it's because I haven't installed the onboard NIC correctly and there is some kind of conflict going on.
Where am I going wrong here, can anybody help?
Thanks, in anticipation.
Bob
