Should Windows or Dell manage my WLAN?

I've got a Dell 1450 USB adapter in communication with a Netgear DG834G router, and all is working fine.  It's a good setup.

 

If it ain't broke, then don't fix it, I hear you say.

 

But at the moment the "Let Windows manage the network connection" (or words to that effect) option is checked, so that all the WEP stuff and available networks windows and so on are managed through the standard XP interface.  Is this the way to go, or is the Dell software supplied with the 1450 better for this purpose?  On my laptop I have it the other way around, with a Netgear interface managing the connection (I did try to let Windows do it, but had no luck).
