slow wireless connection..how to make it faster?

Question

i recently purchased a XPS desktop along with a Dell wireless adapter. However, when I try playing online games, I experience some lag and slower than average internet connection. I'm receiving 24Mbps while my other computer (the one with the cable modem/router) gets 100Mbps and another laptop of mine grets 54mbps. I saw online that the wireless adapter has a/b/g which all have different speeds with a maximum of 54 mbps (I think). I was wondering how I can configure and make my wireless connection faster so I get 54Mbps rather than 24. Thanks. Message Edited by hmmxkrazee on 09-11-2005 08:03 PM

How fast is you ISP connection?  Probably no faster than 4mbps which is the maximum speed any machine on your LAN will acheive while online.  The speeds you are seeing are the internal LAN network speeds.  The only thing you can do to improve your wireless connectivity is load the latest drivers and firmware, shut down all unnecessary processes, and shut down any other wireless deivces on the LAN while you are gaming.  Wireless speed is determined by the slowest device on the LAN.
