sp2 messed up network

Question

I recently upgraded  my 4300 from ME to XP home. It's the main comp connected to the router (linksys).2 other comp are XP pro. Network was fine till XP home Auto downloaded SP 2. Now XP home can see into other 2 comp. but they can't see into XP home. I tried disableing all firewall and reinstalling network. It also messed up my comcast broadband but comcast fixed it and said not to uninstall sp2 because thar would mess up the broadband again. Can anyone help

Which firewalls do you have? Note that SP2 enables the Windows firewall by default and you can use it but you must open the Windows Firewall, click on the Exceptions tab, and put a check mark next to File and Printer Sharing.

I have and use the McaFee firewall. I disabled windows firewall . It says it's off on the general page but when you go to the advance page it says its monitioring the local area connection.The box is checked.I can't uncheck the box.

It is unclear what box you are referring to. Did you make sure the box is checked for File and Printer Sharing on the Exceptions tab?  Why don't you completely disable or uninstall the McAfee Firewall, at least until you get this problem solved.   Steve
