Stop error when using linksys wireless card

Thursday eve
 
Inspiron laptop /  XP home
 
Linksys wpc55ag wireless card
 
The built-in 3com net-adapter works fine.
 
After about 10 minutes with the wireless card inserted (cable disconnected) a memory dump blue screen is displayed:
 
Stop: error 0x0000007f  (0x00000000) (0x00000000) (0x00000000)
 
 
I have installed the linksys driver from the website.

See if  this Microsoft article on Stop 0x7F helps you figure out the problem. Note that the bluescreen you're seeing has the first parameter zero. The possible causes listed in that article are:

000000, or a divide by zero error, occurs when a divide (DIV) instruction is run and the divisor is 0. Memory corruption, other hardware failures, or software problems can cause this message.

If you remove the Linksys card, does the problem stop happening? If so, the most probable cause is a defective WPC55ag. If you get another card and the problem happens again, you may need to check whether the BIOS for your laptop is current. If it is, there may be a hardware problem with the laptop's motherboard.
